Flying Lotus has been busy. The envelope-pushing musician and producer made his first splash as a filmmaker in 2017, premiering his collagelike and wildly surreal horror comedy Kuso at Sundance before releasing it into theaters over the summer. Coming off a nationwide tour last fall, and gearing up for a slew of South American festival dates in the spring, he has also been hard at work on his sixth studio album. During a recent trip to New York, FlyLo found a moment to stop by the Criterion offices for a visit to our film closet. Watch him single out some of his favorites (including Terry Gilliam’s Brazil and David Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch) as well as a handful of titles he’s been dying to see (Wes Anderson’s Rushmore and Takashi Murakami’s Jellyfish Eyes among them).
